Now compatible with Intel powered Macs! The SlideShowPro iPhoto plugin has been upped to version 1.0.4 and has been recompiled as a Universal Binary. Nothing else is new in this update, so if you're running 1.0.3 and you don't have an Intel Mac, there isn't much point in downloading this. But for those of you who couldn't install 1.0.3, here you go.
On the cover of Rolling Stone! Okay, so it's not the cover of the magazine, but SlideShowPro is prominently used on the home page of RollingStone.com to present editorial news photos with links to feature articles.
The wildly talented Ben Schlitter is using SlideShowPro for his beautiful portfolio site. (Click on "Sketchbook" on the front page). SlideShowPro is customized to display only a preloader and watermark, with the rest of the navigation handled by his own custom navigation. Lots of good stuff to see.
Lord knows, there comes a time when everyone loses or forgets their user account password. Unfortunately, the current user management system on this site is less than ideal with automatically handling password resets without my direct involvement. It wastes my time, and yours.
To fix it, a new user management system is currently being incorporated into the back-end of this site. The downside? Because everyone is being moved to an entirely new system, new usernames and passwords will be distributed to each user via email when the switch happens.
In preparation for the move, it's incredibly important that your current user account contains the email address you wish to be contacted at. Next time you login, do me a favor and please make sure your profile is updated.
Many thanks.
Update: New user system went live 3/15/06. Everything went smooth!
By default, SlideShowPro can load any RSS feed published by Flickr and present the images contained therein. But there are times when you need a little more control over what you're loading, and thanks to developer Rory Jaffe, there's a free solution to do just that -- makeSSPxml. When used with SlideShowPro, it pulls whatever data you want from Flickr and dynamically constructs a clean XML file for SlideShowPro to parse.
Requires PHP 5 or later, is published under a Creative Commons license, and is free to use. Check it out!
Need instructions on integrating SlideShowPro with ExpressionEngine's Gallery module? Check out this excellent tutorial by John Henry Donovan. Contains full instructions and source code for setting up your templates with ease. Thanks John!
